To our valued dental family,

As we are all aware, each recent day has brought new developments and challenges, and our hearts go out to all affected. You may have questions and concerns regarding COVID-19 as it relates to visiting our practice. We assure you that the health and safety of our patients, their families and our staff will always be of upmost importance to us. On Friday, March 20, Governor DeSantis issued an executive mandate for dental professionals to cease all elective dental treatment following the recommendations from the American Dental Association and the CDC. As of today, this order is in effect through May 8th. Our commitment to care for our patients will not cease, even during this time. We are diligently preparing to provide emergency dental care via initial evaluation with tele- dentistry and, when needed, emergent dental care in the office by appointment.

The CDC and Word Health Organization (WHO) continue to learn more and more about COVID-19 and how to best prevent its spread in healthcare facilities. We will be following all recommendations as to the cleaning and sterilization of the office, including instituting a screening process for all patients who need to be seen. The following procedures will be followed for all patient interactions in addition to our regular stringent sterilization protocols.

  • Only one patient will be allowed in the building at any one time.
  • Patients should alert us of their arrival via a phone call from the parking lot.
  • Patient temperatures will be taken outside to screen for any fever before treatment can commence.
  • One of our team members will escort you directly to your treatment room.
  • Our staff will have on masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment for all patient interactions.
  • All rooms, door knobs, handles, chairs, surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following CDC and WHO recommended protocols before and after each patient interaction.

We will continue to closely monitor updates from the CDC, American Dental Association and our state and federal officials and keep you informed of any changes to our operations.

Please contact us at 727.581.1441 if you have a dental emergency or urgent need, even if you are unsure of the seriousness of your situation. We want to help you discern your need for dental attention. If you do not reach us, please leave a message with your name, phone number and a brief description of your symptoms, and we will return your call as soon as possible.

We thank you for your assistance with these measures. We look forward to continuing to provide the excellent care you deserve.

March 24th, 2020 update

In light of questions we have received regarding our COVID-19 update yesterday, some clarification is in order.

Governor DeSantis mandated on March 20 that dentists, as well as other health care providers, immediately cease all elective surgeries. In the same mandate, he also required dentists to continue to provide emergency and urgent dental treatment. These are procedures that, if delayed, would place a patient’s immediate health, safety, or well-being at risk, or contribute to the worsening of a serious or life threatening condition.

My staff and I take the responsibility to care for your oral health very seriously. We want you to know that all patients experiencing pain or symptoms of infection will be cared for in the most safe and prudent way. In addition, we will carefully consider the welfare of the general public in our patient emergency screening process.

We wish you and your loved ones health and safety during this time, and those who have been directly effected by the virus, a speedy and complete recovery.

Best Regards,

Andrew J. Holloman, DDS
